The purpose of the Governing Body

The purpose of the Governing Body is to provide strategic leadership to ensure every child gets the best possible education.

The Governing Body’s core strategic functions are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Head to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
  • To promote the school and its ethos of "Being the Best that You Can Be" through living out the values of “Pride in Pendock”

How long do governors serve for?

The Chair and Vice Chairperson are elected annually. In accordance with the Governing Body’s Instrument of Government, all Governors serve a term of 4 years except for parent Governors who serve for 3 years.

About me

Having served as a parent governor from 2015-2018, I was keen to stay on the governing body once my children had both moved into grammar school. As a member of the Pendock community with an enthusiasm for education, sport and EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), I help to provide governance around the whole curriculum, with the aim of ensuring the children who attend Pendock receive a rounded and broad-based education, setting them up as confident individuals ready for their next educational setting.  I took the role of chair over from Paul Massey this academic year and I am finding my feet with help and support from Paul and the rest of the governing body and staff!
